On the side of culture, visit the Batwa community at the forest edge for a cultural immersion through music, dance and drama, cousins, folk tales, and more. The journey to and from involves different stopovers mainly at the local roadside markets to buy fresh Uganda fruits and at the Uganda equator line for photos, lunch, souvenirs, and experiments.
4 Days Uganda Gorilla Habituation and Batwa Cultural Safari Detailed Itinerary
Day 1 : Kampala/Entebbe to Bwindi national park
The assigned driver guide will pick you up from the airport in Entebbe or Kampala and immediately transfer you to Bwindi National Park. This is a world UNESCO heritage site located in far southwestern Uganda known to be home the the rare endangered mountain gorillas. The journey to this park is scenic and rewarding as you pass through different roadside markets and, a great view of the Uganda equator for photos and experiments. Arrive and check in the accommodation booked.
Day 2 : Gorilla habituation experience
Wake up and head to the park offices with your packed lunch for the briefing exercise. During this time, the park wardens will be cross-checking the habituation permits, learning about the dos and don’ts, assigning the park ranger guide, expectations and knowing the gorilla behaviours, and more. Begin the search for these beautiful creatures while spotting other primates, birds, plants, butterflies, and more. On meeting a family of these gentle giants, spend 4 hours following them as you learn about their behaviors but the whole experience can take about 7 to 8 hours of adventure. Head back to the lodge for your dinner and leisure evening.
Day 3 : Batwa community tour
Wake up and have your breakfast which will be followed by a community tour to the Batwa people. This tour will involve participating in different activities such as traditional dances, music, drama, storytelling, cooking classes, handmade craft making, and more. After lunch, have an optional activity of your choice and you prepare for your dinner and the next day’s departure.
Day 4 : Head back to Kampala and departure flight
Have breakfast and head back to Kampala with a route stopover at the equator line for a hot lunch and souvenir buying. Later on, proceed to Kampala and be dropped at the airport for your departure flight.
